The work of nurses is critical to the success of any hospital. Nurses ease pain, comfort fear, celebrate triumphs, and mourn losses with our patients and families; all while providing highly skilled medical care. 

St. Joseph Health, which is part of the St. Luke's Health system, is committed to supporting our nursing teams and this past year launched the Center for Nursing Excellence, made possible through generous donor support.

The center focuses on professional development, clinical practice, and research and innovation across our 17-hospital Texas Division, including St. Joseph Health. As a fully integrated center, it serves as a base for developing management and leadership succession programs as well as nurse recruitment and retention strategies.

When fully operationalized, the center will also provide the infrastructure and support to advance nursing education, career development and research – all aimed at transforming health care in Texas to improve patient outcomes.
